Korean Translation

Korean

With a long, rich history, Korea has infused its language with many unique cultural aspects found nowhere else. One of the crowning points in Korean history is the invention of an alphabet, called hangul. Developed by King Sejong more than 500 years ago, hangul provides a phonemic representation of the Korean language, and is considered by linguists to be the most scientifically advanced script in the world.

Despite this advanced writing system, Korean has a great number of homonyms. Compared to a few instances of two to four homonyms in English such as see and see or you, ewe, and (the letter) 'u', Korean has many instances of more than a dozen homonyms! Hanja or Chinese characters are sometimes used to augment Korean writing and differentiate the homonyms.
